Myths & Legends of Many Cultures

All cultures have their own myths and legends.Ancient people used these stories to try to explain why certain events occurred. October was the traditional time for Harvest Festivals as the days grew shorter and the sun began to disappear from the sky. Come to the library to learn about & celebrate the diversity of the Myths and Legends of many cultures; many colorful and delightful tales are on display!

Monthly Themes in the Library

August: Marathon held in the Library to honor the Beijing Olympics

As part of our library theme this month, SIS Middle School and High School students competed in a first ever SIS marathon... all run on a treadmill in the library! The competition was especially fierce between the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. 7th Grade won by a small margin! Congratulations to everyone who participated!

September: Mid Autumn Festival

We celebrated the Mid Autumn Festival aka Moon Festival in the Library in September. We learned about the legend of Chang-O and the Jade Rabbit and why Moon Cakes are eaten at this time.
